Communities of practice

Community of practice for authorised voluntary assisted dying practitioners

Facilitated by QVAD Support and Pharmacy Service (QVAD SPS), the Community of Practice (CoP) supports all authorised VAD practitioners to improve the way they provide voluntary assisted dying. All practitioners are automatically enrolled in the CoP once authorised.

The CoP is a virtual forum for authorised practitioners to continually improve their practice and grow their understanding of the voluntary assisted dying service through:

  • Interactions with peers—ongoing virtual and online chat discussions.
  • Structured education—regular development sessions on specialised topics.
  • Interactive case-based discussions—test your thinking with other authorised practitioners.
  • Webinars—stay up to date with current resources and support.
  • Mentoring—connecting you with experienced practitioners across the health industry.
  • Psychosocial support—counselling and debriefing to support you.

To get the most out of the CoP, we encourage you to:

  • participate in forum discussions by asking questions and seeking feedback
  • attend webinars to hear from guest speakers and other practitioners' experiences
  • stay up to date with new resources and helpful guides in “Files”.
