The Health care providers' guide to engaging multicultural communities and consumers aims to assist health care providers to involve people from a culturally and linguistically diverse background in the planning, delivery and evaluation of health services.

The guide provides step-by-step advice on:

  • defining the purpose and parameters of the engagement activity
  • engaging appropriate community representatives
  • appropriate timing for the engagement activity
  • how to contact the identified community representatives.

The handbook was developed by Queensland Health and forms part of the Multicultural Clinical Support Resource.

It is ok to complain, and there are organisations that are independent of the government that can help you, free of charge.
