The Chief Health Officer will no longer declare Greater Darwin a COVID-19 hotspot after it lifted its lockdown today but the hotspot declaration will remain for Katherine while local lockdown restrictions continue to apply.

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young said those currently in quarantine in Queensland who arrived from Greater Darwin will be able to leave quarantine once they return a negative COVID-19 test result.

“The lockdown still remains for Katherine so we must continue to be vigilant and keep our hotspot in place while those local restrictions apply,” Dr Young said.

“I continue to urge anyone currently in Queensland to please get tested if you have any symptoms no matter how mild.”
