Waiver of consent
A waiver of consent can only be granted by a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) as outlined in Section 2.3.10 of the National Statement of Ethical Conduct in Human Research 2023.
In 2024 the Coronial and Public Health Sciences Human Ethics Committee [EC00305] granted a waiver of consent for the following projects:
- Toxicological death on the Gold Coast: a five-year retrospective study
- Metagenomics approaches to detection of bacterial pathogens in food - Salmonella machine learning
- Opioid substitution therapy at Maryborough Correction Centre (MCC): a retrospective descriptive chart review
- Complications post flap surgery in people with spinal cord injury
- Retrospective audit of illicit drug-related hospital admission before and after the implementation of an opioid substitution treatment program at the Maryborough Correction al Centre
- Identification of pneumococcal serotype-independent antigenic regions and mobile genetic elements driving antimicrobial resistance gene mobility
