Our purpose

On 18 February 2014, the Minister for Health launched and addressed the inaugural meeting to the Queensland Nursing and Midwifery Executive Council (QNMExC).

QNMExC provides high-level advice and recommendations regarding nursing and midwifery services to support delivery of Government health priorities.

Membership of QNMExC includes representation from executive level nursing and midwifery positions from a broad range of clinical service providers, including Queensland public Hospital and Health Services, private and non-government sectors and Universities.

Key strategic priorities for the Council include:

  • maintaining full scope of nursing and midwifery across the state and avoiding reductionist processes
  • utilisation of data and information for improving health services across Queensland through nursing and midwifery
  • building capacity and sustainability in the nursing and midwifery profession.

QNMExC meets every second month, with semi-regular attendance by the Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services and Minister for Women, and the Director-General.
