Junior Medical Officers Forum Queensland

JMOFQ logo

The Junior Medical Officer Forum of Queensland (JMOFQ) is a subsidiary of Prevocational Medical Accreditation Queensland (PMAQ), the internship accrediting body for all training hospitals in Queensland. PMAQ works as a branch of Queensland Health; however, it sits far enough away to function as an independent accreditation organisation. PMAQ is accredited by the Medical Board of Australia as the Intern training accreditation authority for Queensland. PMAQ’s prevocational accreditation program implements and monitors standards for the training, supervision and welfare of prevocational trainees in their intern (PGY1) and, in some pilot hospitals, resident (PGY2+) years.

The JMOFQ was created to enhance the professional relationship between PMAQ and JMOs. It provides a forum where JMOs have a voice on how their training is developed, implemented, evaluated, and improved.

Briefly, JMOFQ:

  • Provides JMOs with the opportunity to meet with their peers from across Queensland to discuss and collaborate on issues related to their education and training
  • Promotes the development, implementation, and evaluation of guidelines for the delivery of educational and training programs for JMOs in Queensland hospitals
  • Provides opportunities to facilitate and encourage research regarding JMO education in Queensland
  • Provides a confidential avenue for JMOs to raise issues regarding education and training standards to the PMAQ Accreditation Committee
  • Represents Queensland on the Australasian Junior Medical Officer Committee (AJMOC), a committee of the JMO Forum executives in the Australian states and territories, as well as New Zealand

The Junior Medical Officer Forum Queensland (JMOFQ) comprises representatives from each training hospital facility in Queensland and the Executive Committee. Multiple forums occur in a year where the JMOFQ executive team meet with the JMOFQ representatives to discuss junior doctor training, issues facing junior doctors, and improvements that can be made to enhance junior doctor training and experiences, and in turn provide well-trained doctors to serve our communities.

Current 2026 Executive Committee

The executive committee is a core group of the JMOFQ comprised of individuals, being junior doctors themselves, who are responsible for representing the interests of the JMOFQ on a range of committees and for actioning tasks assigned to the JMOFQ.

How to become a JMOFQ member

All JMOs are automatically a member of JMOFQ and are represented by the JMOFQ group. JMOFQ’s definition of Junior Medical Officers includes Interns, Junior/Senior House Officers, and career medical officers--that is, junior doctors not on a speciality training program. Please contact your MEU if you are unsure who your representative is or how to contact them.

Please contact JMOFQ directly on if you any further questions at JMOForum@health.qld.gov.au or Chair.JMOFQ@health.qld.gov.au
