Queenslanders aged 6 months and older can get their free flu vaccine any time from 1 March to 30 September 2026. You don’t need a Medicare card.
New nasal spray vaccine for children
There is now a nasal spray flu vaccine. It’s quick and just as effective as having the injection.
The nasal spray flu vaccine is free for:
- children aged 2 to 5 years (before they turn 6)
- older children and young people aged 6 to 17 years (before they turn 18) who struggle with needles.
The flu injection is still free for everyone else.
