Satellite health centres

Satellite health centres offer care for people in minor injury and illness clinics. It's free if you have a Medicare card. You don't need an appointment. The minor injury and illness clinics are open 7 days a week from 8am to 10pm.

Is this service right for you

We treat conditions that aren’t life threatening such as broken bones, minor head injuries and other wounds and burns. We can also help with earaches, toothaches and coughs and colds.


Medicare Urgent Care Clinics

Medicare Urgent Care Clinics offer the same care as satellite health centres and treat minor injuries and illnesses. Open everyday for extended hours.

Your GP is the best person to see for most health issues, including minor injuries and infections. They’ll tell you if you need more care or need to go to a hospital.

Your GP can treat minor injuries and infections and a range of other health conditions. They also know your medical history so they’re able to give you the best possible care.


Pregnancy, birth and baby

This is a free national helpline, video and website service that supports expecting parents, parents, families and carers of children aged up to five years.

Nurse-led clinics

Nurse-led walk-in clinics are for adults and children over 2 who need treatment for minor injuries and illnesses. They’re free and you don’t need a Medicare card.

We treat minor injuries and illnesses at our nurse-led clinics. We can help if you can’t see your GP and you don’t need emergency treatment. 


A community pharmacy

There are many services your local community pharmacy may be able to help you with, including:

  • acute common conditions (nausea, reflux, school sores, shingles, ear infections, minor skin conditions, muscle pain and inflamation)
  • health and wellbeing services (hormonal contraception, quitting smoking, weight management, fluoride application)

Some pharmacists can now help with chronic condition management including for asthma, COPD, cardiovascular risk reduction (including hypertension, type 2 diabetes and cholesterol management).


Post-operative discharge support service

This service is for patients who had an operation at selected Queensland Health hospitals and have left the hospital in the last 30 days.
