National falls prevention guidelines

In response to the increasing incidence of falls and falls related injury, the Australian Health Ministers Conference first developed a national falls prevention plan for older people in 2004. In 2009, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare developed three separate falls prevention guidelines to address the main care settings of hospitals, residential aged care facilities and the community.
