About us

System Procurement (SP) facilitates procurement outcomes to deliver the best value for the Queensland public health system.

What we do

  • Lead the procurement of goods and services on behalf of the department and Hospital and Health Services, excluding ICT and infrastructure
  • Manage supplier contracts for the supply of medical and non-medical goods and services for Queensland Health such as consumables, prosthetics, pharmaceuticals, equipment and maintenance, labour services and facility management services
  • Create, develop, lead and execute category management plans and sourcing strategies to drive outcomes and deliver value for money in line with the Queensland Procurement Policy
  • Provide procurement policy, guides, templates, contracting advice and training

We are working to enable Hospital and Health Services to maximise the value and benefits from all arrangements with suppliers. SP continues to work with stakeholders to deliver what is required. We lead the ongoing development of the supplier relationship management framework and governance in Queensland Health which will enable a greater understanding of our suppliers, level of criticality, identifying opportunities for innovation, and how to gain the most value out of our procurement activities.

Our approach

We use a category management approach—grouping specific spend areas to establish and maintain sustainable, best value, procurement management for statewide arrangements. This includes consideration of sustainability/environmental factors, social and local benefits.

Our purpose

Enable better healthcare through better procurement.

Our staff

Our staff, based across Queensland, provide services in system procurement, advisory and continuous improvement, and data and performance reporting.
