Prescriber registration
To prescribe medicines in Queensland from 1 July 2025, a community pharmacist must have a prescriber number issued by Queensland Health, and their name must appear on the Queensland community pharmacist prescriber register.
The prescriber register is publicly searchable and can be used to validate the authenticity of a prescription made by a community pharmacist in Queensland.
A prescriber number can only be issued to community pharmacists who meet the requirements for the prescribing services that they intend to deliver.
