Q fever immunisation centres
Following the closure of the National Q fever Register and associated vaccination clinic finder in April 2024, a Queensland Q fever vaccination centre finder has been established to assist the public and health professionals to identify immunisation providers who offer Q fever vaccination.
Q fever is a vaccine-preventable disease and is caused by the bacterium Coxiella and infects wild and domestic animals, and their ticks. Humans are mainly infected from cattle, sheep and goats.
Q fever vaccine is recommended but not funded* for adolescents aged ≥15 years and adults who are at risk of Q fever and have not had previous Q fever infection or vaccination.
For more information on Q fever, including details on who is at risk of Q fever visit Q fever | Health and wellbeing | Queensland Government
Note that Q fever vaccination is not funded under National or State Immunisation Programs.
Refer to the Australian Immunisation Handbook for further information on Q fever vaccination.
*Costs will apply. Ask your immunisation provider for cost details.
