Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) immunisation centres
Japanese encephalitis is caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV). It is spread through mosquito bites and is more common in areas of increased mosquito activity. It is endemic to parts of Asia and the Torres Strait region of Australia; but has recently been detected in several locations on mainland Australia including Queensland.
Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is a vaccine-preventable disease. JEV vaccines are recommended for people at risk of exposure to the virus.

Yellow fever immunisation centres
Yellow fever is a serious viral disease transmitted by mosquitoes in parts of Africa and Central and South America. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent yellow fever and is a legal requirement for people travelling through infected areas.
Yellow fever vaccinations can only be given by approved yellow fever vaccination centres.

Q fever immunisation centres
Following the closure of the National Q fever Register and associated vaccination clinic finder in April 2024, a Queensland Q fever vaccination centre finder has been established to assist the public and health professionals to identify immunisation providers who offer Q fever vaccination.
Q fever is a vaccine-preventable disease and is caused by the bacterium Coxiella and infects wild and domestic animals, and their ticks. Humans are mainly infected from cattle, sheep and goats.
