Online chlamydia and gonorrhoea test requests

13 HEALTH Webtest is a free urine test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea that can be ordered online. The test is available to Queenslanders 16 years and older.

People who use Webtest receive the result through 13 HEALTH. The test is confidential and can be ordered without a Medicare Card.

The test is not intended to replace a comprehensive sexual health check by a health professional. Rather, it provides an additional testing option for people at risk of STIs who are unlikely or unable to attend a health service.

The service was introduced in July 2020 after a successful pilot project conducted by Communicable Diseases Branch and Health Contact Centre within Queensland Health, in collaboration with Pathology Queensland and several private pathology providers. Until November 2022 there were two ways to provide a urine sample. Supply problems with collection equipment mean that the home sample kit option is currently unavailable.

How it works

Queenslanders can download a pathology request form and visit a collection centre to provide a urine sample.

The 13 HEALTH Webtest team contacts people with positive results by phone and discusses attendance at a health service for treatment, and a more comprehensive sexual health check. Negative results are advised by text message or email.

More information

Queensland Health would like to acknowledge the prior work and assistance of the online testing services in Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and the Queensland chlamydia home mailing kit service developed by Townsville Sexual Health Service in 2007.
