Medical workforce wellbeing project
We're working with hospital and health services to improve doctor wellbeing. This project focuses on workplace culture, professional fulfilment, and reducing burnout. We're developing a statewide approach to provide easy to access wellbeing resources and support that address the diverse needs of:
- junior doctors
- international medical graduates
- First Nations doctors
- doctors with disabilities
- rural and regional doctors
- doctors in leadership roles.
The Chief Medical Officer leads the Queensland Health Medical Workforce Wellbeing Reference Group. It includes members from Queensland Health and other organisations and helps guide the Medical Workforce Wellbeing Project.
Medi-Nav
Medi-Nav helps future doctors explore career options early using current workforce data and career information. It supports medical graduates and junior doctors to consider specialties and locations where more doctors are needed.

Mind re(Set)
We offer a self-paced training program to help junior doctors look after their mental health and wellbeing. It covers managing workload stress, self-care and avoiding burnout. Other topics include handling conflict, career planning and skills for new supervisors. The program includes practical strategies, relatable scenarios and insights from senior and junior doctors.
Junior Medical Officer Forum Queensland
We give junior doctors a voice in their training and education. The forum advocates for high quality training that keeps improving and provides networking opportunities for junior doctors.
Medical Pathways
We're creating education and training opportunities for doctors in rural and regional areas. Our hospital and health services partner with universities in regional medical pathways that provide training for regional, rural and remote doctors.
Learn about the Central Queensland Wide Bay Regional Medical Pathway and the Darling Downs South-West Medical Pathway on the University of Queensland website.
Rural Generalist Pathway
The Queensland Rural Generalist Pathway provides education, training and support to medical professionals interested in a rural medical career.

International medical graduate preparatory program
We're planning a North Queensland preparatory program to support international medical graduates. The program aims to improve work-readiness and help them transition into Queensland’s health system.
