The new Coomera Hospital reached a major milestone today with Multiplex named as preferred contractor.
The project will provide the rapidly growing region with access to vital health services closer to home, including a 12-storey Clinical Services Building housing the emergency department, intensive care unit, operating theatres, mental health, maternity, paediatric, pathology, renal services, and inpatient units.
In total, the new hospital will feature 600 beds.

“The new hospital is a critical investment in the future healthcare needs for our community,” Dr Frieslich said.
“Being able to treat patients in or closer to their own community is a huge step in our goals of holistic care.”
Coomera Hospital will also alleviate some of the current pressure on the existing healthcare facilities on the Gold Coast, Dr Frieslich said.
“As the hospital's front door, the emergency departments at Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital care for more than 500 people on average each day.
“With the Gold Coast population projected to grow by up to 22 per cent by 2033, the new hospital will help us meet growing demand while continuing to deliver safe, high-quality care for our northern Gold Coast patients.”
Main construction works are due to commence once the formal contract is awarded in January 2027.
Early works are expected to ramp up from next month, focusing on substructure works for the building cores and preparation of the hospital's expanded footprint and access roads.
Upcoming activities during this phase will include earthworks for Ambulatory Care Building (outpatients building), construction of the Road B retaining wall and inground enabling works along George Alexander Way.
The project will be delivered in two key phases, with Stage 1 opening in 2031 and Stage 2 in 2032.
The new Coomera Hospital forms part of the statewide Hospital Rescue Plan, which is delivering 2,600 new beds across Queensland, three brand-new hospitals – including Coomera Hospital – and major expansions at 10 other facilities.
