As the Moreton Bay region continues to expand, so do the health services that support these communities now and into the future.

Residents of Redcliffe and surrounding suburbs will benefit from improved health services through the Redcliffe Hospital expansion, with plans beginning to come to fruition as early construction works get underway this month.

Local clinicians have helped inform the recently updated masterplan for the works, with the hospital gaining 255 new overnight beds by 2031, including a 28-bed transitional sub-acute medical inpatient unit.

There will also be new maternity and birthing services, expanded endoscopy services and new operating theatres, plus a new car park containing more than 530 additional parking spaces.

The modern facilities have been designed with patient and staff safety at the forefront, as well as a view to meet the needs of a growing community for generations to come.

The design has also accounted for a culturally significant tree on site, with the local Kabi Kabi people consulted and a Site Induction Protocol in place to ensure the tree is not impacted by the works.

Assistant Project Director James Stott said he was excited to see the start of physical works on site.

"This has got to be the biggest building ever constructed on the peninsula," he said.

"It's going to expand a hospital that's served this community for more than 60 years and deliver modern facilities, including new theatres, maternity and birthing services.

"Car parking is always a pressure point for hospitals, so we're delivering the car park up front to make sure there's enough capacity for the new building and all the additional patients we'll be caring for.

"The community is going to start seeing some large equipment arriving to site, and they'll be able to watch as the two-stage project progresses."

On site construction establishment and works on the multi-storey carpark expansion will begin in late August 2026, with these works expected to be completed by the end of 2027. Start dates for further stages will be announced in due course as expansion works steadily roll out.

The Redcliffe Hospital Expansion is part of the Queensland Government's plan to deliver more than 2,600 new beds, three new hospitals, and 10 expanded hospitals statewide.
