Accreditations and terms of reference
The World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Leptospirosis, as part of Coronial and Public Health Sciences, Pathology Queensland is accredited by NATA to for the following tests:
- Leptospirosis Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT), Leptospirosis PCR and Leptospirosis culture (ISO 15189 Human Pathology)
- Leptospirosis Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) (ISO 17025 Animal Health)
Terms of reference
- To assist other leptospirosis laboratories, wherever possible, in identifying and classifying new strains which have given difficulty.
- If feasible, to accept trainees for limited periods to learn laboratory procedures in leptospirosis.
- To provide laboratory assistance to countries which are setting up diagnostic laboratories.
- On request, to assist in investigating outbreaks of leptospirosis.
