Review of refugee health services in Queensland

In 2024, Queensland Health engaged the University of Queensland to undertake a review of our state funded and delivered refugee health services. This review was completed as one of the actions of the Refugee Health and Wellbeing Policy and Action Plan (2022-2027).

The purpose of the review was to understand how refugee health services are delivering healthcare to refugee populations and the system-level barriers and enablers to delivering good healthcare for this group.

The review found that Queensland Health’s refugee health services play an important role in supporting new arrivals to access and navigate the health system, but are facing a number of significant challenges.
