Access to de-identified data or diagnostic material

This information is for researchers seeking access to information or materials held by Pathology Queensland that potentially contains identifiable—or potentially re-identifiable—data. See more about confidential information access.

Queensland Health and non-Queensland Health employees may request access to de-identified data or diagnostic material for approved research or activities relating to health services.

De-identified diagnostic material includes:

  • microbiology isolates
  • unstained FFPE tissue sections
  • swabs
  • blood
  • urine
  • saliva
  • cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
  • bone marrow.

De-identified diagnostic material does not include diagnostic FFPE blocks or H&E slides.

How to apply

To apply for access to de-identified data/diagnostic material:

  1. Email a completed application for services form (DOC, 299.5 KB) to Pathology Queensland Client Services at PathQldClients@health.qld.gov.au.
  2. Client Services will provide you with a quote of estimated cost and a laboratory declaration.
  3. Once the quote has been accepted, confidential information/diagnostic material can be released by Pathology Queensland.

After requests meet all requirements, confidential information will be released by Pathology Queensland and be made available by secure data transfer.
