Neurological conditions

About 1.3 million Queenslanders are affected by neurological conditions, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and dementia.

Neurological conditions affect the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. These make up our nervous system which controls everything we do, from moving, talking and swallowing to thinking and remembering. When it isn’t working properly, it can cause a range of symptoms, which vary depending on the condition and the person.

About the neurological gateway

The neurological gateway is for people with a neurological condition, as well as their families and carers. It links you to information and organisations who can support your health and wellbeing journey.

The gateway can direct you to community based organisations who understand your neurological condition. They’ll help you learn about your condition and find health, community and peer supports in your area.

It also has links to government programs, such as the NDIS, so you can get the funding supports you need.
