Understanding epilepsy

Epilepsy causes seizures, and can affect anyone, at any age. A seizure happens when the brain’s electrical signals are disrupted. This can affect how a person moves, feels, behaves or becomes aware of their surroundings.

Most people can take medicine to prevent having seizures, but there are other treatments and support that can help as well.
