Research information for sponsors

Find out how you can sponsor a research project or clinical trial.

Sponsoring a research project or clinical trial helps develop new and improved treatments and therapies. Our hospital and health services offer skilled staff and modern facilities to meet your research needs.

As a sponsor, you join our partnership with universities, clinical professionals and other organisations.

You can find out about current and historical clinical trials and projects using DoRA 2.0 Queensland Health's Database of Research Activities.

Clinical trial sponsors

Australia has an efficient regulatory approval framework in the Clinical Trials Notification (CTN) scheme. Find out about the scheme on the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) website. This process stops the need for the Investigational New Drug requirements.

To sponsor a clinical trial, find a clinical trial site, or to locate another clinical trial service provider either:

The portal also explains all of the following:

  • Queensland clinical trial regulation
  • intellectual property
  • patents.

Read about research governance on the Australian Clinical Trials website.

Research project sponsors

If you’re interested in sponsoring a research project or you’re funding your own research project, we can give you:

  • advice on ethical and governance for research projects in Queensland Health
  • general information
  • forms
  • information about the process to release confidential information for the purposes of research under Section 280 of the Public Health Act 2005.

Email our Clinical Trials Liaison Officers at ori@health.qld.gov.au for more information.

You may also get a research and development tax incentive up to 43.5% cashback for eligible research and development expenditure. Find out more about the research and development tax incentive on the Australian Taxation Office website.
