Specialist Workers

A person arriving from a COVID-19 hotspot may be considered a specialist or essential worker and may enter Queensland under certain conditions. They must meet the criteria outlined in the Border Restrictions Direction and be endorsed by a relevant Queensland Government agency, or Queensland Health in the event there is no relevant government agency.

Specialist or essential workers are required to apply for entry under the Border Restrictions Direction.

Quarantine management plan

A quarantine management plan (DOCX 557 kB) is required for all specialist or essential worker applications. Please note that if the employer does not nominate accommodation, the worker will quarantine in government-nominated accommodation and will be required to pay a quarantine fee. There is also no guarantee that the government-nominated accommodation will be in the same region as the workplace or the point of entry into Queensland.
