Interstate Areas of Concern (Vulnerable Facilities) Direction (No. 2)
Summary
Effective from: 1am AEST 28 May 2021
Posted: 28 May 2021
I, Dr Jeannette Young, Chief Health Officer, reasonably believe it is necessary to publish the following list of interstate areas of concern pursuant to the powers under s362B of the Public Health Act 2005 to assist in containing, or to respond to, the spread of COVID-19 within the community.
The direction applies from 1am on Friday 28 May 2021 until the end of the declared public health emergency, unless it is revoked or replaced. The purpose of this direction is to identify interstate areas of concern for:
- Aged Care Direction (No. 29) or its successor
- Disability Accommodation Services Direction (No. 18) or its successor
- Hospital Visitors Direction (No. 20) or its successor
This means people who have been in an interstate area of concern since the time and date identified in the table below or in the past 14 days, whichever period is shorter, will not be permitted to enter residential aged care facilities, shared disability accommodation services and hospitals. This is because interstate areas of concern have a heightened COVID-19 risk due to factors such as an increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the issuing of local public health alerts by an interstate authority.
From 1am on Friday 28 May 2021 there are no local government areas declared as interstate areas of concern for the above listed directions.
