  • This training is a great opportunity for supervisees to learn how to get the most out of their professional/clinical supervision. If you are new to supervision, or have never received any 'how-to' training in supervision, this training is for you! It introduces supervisees to key concepts in supervision, including structure, content, the supervisory relationship, goal setting and how to make supervision work for you.

    Please note that this training is about professional/clinical supervision and NOT operational management.

    This training will provide you with the basic skills necessary to make the most of the supervision you receive. By the end of the training you will be able to:

    • describe what is meant by professional/clinical supervision
    • outline the structure, content and process of supervision including the use of a supervision agreement
    • set your own goals for supervision
    • discuss the significance of the supervisory relationship
    • identify your learning preferences/styles and their application in supervision
    • be able to describe and use reflective practice techniques within the supervision context.
  • This training is interprofessional and is open to staff from allied health, nursing, medicine, dentistry and other health professions. This training is open to:

    • Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service staff
    • other Queensland Health staff
    • external participants.

    Please note: Although this training has been developed for health professionals from allied health, nursing, medicine and dentistry, some administrative staff have completed this training and have found it useful.

  • There are no admission requirements for this training.

    Participants external to Queensland Health/Queensland Hospital and Health Service, please contact us for further information.

  • This is an online activity which has been designed to facilitate participants to complete it independently.

  • This activity is expected to take up to three hours. Specifically, the completion time will depend upon the participant's individual circumstances. The mode of delivery for this training is online and access to the online training material is for a duration of six weeks.

    Learning materials for this course are accessed through the Cunningham Centre’s online learning management system (LMS). These courses have been tested on the Queensland Health standard operating environment. As of March 2022 this is Microsoft Windows 10 20H2 and Microsoft Edge 64bit v92.

    The following software are recommended:

    • Microsoft Windows 10 or 11
    • Microsoft Edge Browser
    • Adobe Acrobat Reader

    Please be aware that:

    • Apple Mac computers running the latest version of macOS and the Safari web browser should work without issue, but are not specifically tested or supported by the Cunningham Centre.
    • Mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones or Android devices are not recommended or supported.
    • For best results, software should have any updates applied.
    • Some computers may be running additional software that affects the features and functionality of that computer. This may include, but is not limited to, anti-virus software and web browser plug-ins.
    • A broadband internet connection is required to use the LMS. Some files, including videos, may be large; please ensure that you have sufficient data allowance to download and upload data from and to the LMS.
    • If a technical issue is reported that is affecting your ability to access online materials, we will attempt to replicate the issue in the Windows 10 environment. If the issue cannot be replicated in this way, then it will be assumed that the issues lies with your computer or internet connection and responsibility for resolution will lie with you.
  • There are assessment activities in the form of quizzes throughout the online package. The aim of these quizzes is to ensure thorough understanding of the content covered before progressing further through the various modules.

  • A workshop manual will be made available to you upon enrolment which will contain further information on the content covered.

  • You will be issued with a Statement of Completion after completing all required sessions.

    Participation in this professional development activity may contribute to continuing professional development (CPD) requirements for the purposes of registration and/or professional association membership. Please refer to the specific CPD requirements of your registration board and/or professional association to confirm.

  • This training is available on demand for all Queensland Health staff on the Queensland Health Intranet (QHEPS). Click here to access.

    We recommend that you read the Cunningham Centre academic guidelines prior to enrolment to ensure that you are making a fully informed decision.
