Non-SSB data request

Consult the Queensland Health data custodian list for the relevant data custodian/s of the dataset/s of interest.

If data linkage is required for QH datasets not managed by SSB, contact the Statistical Analysis and Linkage Unit at DLQ@health.qld.gov.au.


Non-confidential/anonymous data request

Email an outline of your request, including details of the data items you expect to receive, to HlthStat@health.qld.gov.au.


Research data request - PHA

To access Queensland Health (QH) data for research purposes, via a Public Health Act application, you will need:

  • a valid ethics approval from an appropriate Human Research Ethics Committee
  • a completed PHA application form with approvals from:
    • all relevant QH data custodians for access to each requested dataset
    • the QH Director-General's delegate at the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI)

Research data request - consent

To access Queensland Health (QH) data for research purposes, with participant consent, you will need:

  • a valid ethics approval from an appropriate Human Research Ethics Committee
  • approval from all relevant QH data custodians for access to each requested dataset
  • evidence of informed consent from all participants whose data you are requesting

External request for confidential data

Legislation prevents the release of confidential Queensland Health data except in very limited, specific cases.

Consider if non-confidential (aggregate, anonymised) data is sufficient for your purposes.

Queensland Health request for linked confidential data (including private hospital data)

Legislation permits the release of confidential information to Queensland Health employees under certain circumstances, depending on the type of data and their intended use.

The release of private hospital data additionally requires executive approval via a brief to the Director-General.
