Student placements
If you are requesting a placement with us, firstly get in touch with your education provider or employer. Your placements co-ordinator will need to make formal contact with us. Requests from individuals will not be considered.
Note: Academic transcripts with student number, email address and phone number(s) need to be attached to the initial request.
CPHS focussed placements include Coronial Services, Forensic Pathology, Public Health Microbiology, Public Health Virology, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
Students seeking placement in Forensic Biology, DNA, Molecular Biology and Forensic Chemistry should email Forensic Science Queensland.
Forensic Pathology and Coronial Sciences (FPaCS) welcomes a select number of medial students to complete their practical placements at Coopers Plains, Gold Coast University Hospital and occasionally at Townsville.
Limited research and non-clinical placements are also available.
Our facility is not a hospital and therefore, we cannot accept students on clinical rotation.
Our placements give students the opportunity to be part of solutions for emerging needs, foster collaborative research, and provides our staff with the opportunity to work with and supervise students.
Some postgraduate students who have had their practical placements at our facilities have been identified as potential employees of the future.
We do not offer voluntary placements or secondary school work experience. This is due to the sensitive nature of the services provided, confidentiality requirements and workplace health and safety restrictions.
