Controlled drugs for destruction
Do not send S8 drugs to Coronial and Public Health Sciences, or Forensic Science Queensland (formerly Forensic and Scientific Services) for destruction.
Commencing on 27 September 2021, the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019 has changed the way controlled drugs are required to be destroyed.
From this date, it is no longer required in Queensland to destroy Schedule 8 (S8) drugs at this facility.
The Queensland Health fact sheet, 'Disposal of S8 medicine waste' (September 2021) (PDF, 165.3 KB) provides practical information about the destruction of S8 drugs.
