Clinical Research Capacity Building Grants

The Queensland Health Clinical Research Capacity Building Grant is seed funding to support a multi-disciplinary group of Queensland Health clinician researchers to undertake and translate research for improved care and health outcomes.

The Grant recognises that clinician researchers often require access to additional resources to build capacity and support the development, delivery and translation of a program of research. Additional resources may be in the form of dedicated staff such as a research assistant, research nurse or technical staff who can assist with patient visits/logistics, data capture and entry, management of ethics, governance and data applications and preparation of grant applications to undertake their research or another form of impactful support to enable the program of work.

Objectives of the Grant

The specific objectives of the Grant are to:

  • encourage and enable research collaborations within and across teams, departments, and HHSs including multidisciplinary and inter-professional collaborations
  • support the conduct and development of innovative, high quality health research and the translation of research for improved care and health outcomes
  • foster and build research capacity and capability in the health and medical workforce, with a pathway to self-sustainability beyond the grant period.

Grant amount

  • Funding available: up to $250,000 over 3 years
  • Number of grants: up to 4 (subject to available funds and merit-based review and assessment)

  • 2025 Round applications close - 11:59 pm AEST on 1 December 2025
  • Applicants notified - April 2026 (estimated)
