Keep the flu off you!

Winter brings with it lots of nasty bugs, with one of the most common being influenza – or ‘the flu’. Influenza is highly contagious and generally occurs each year from May to September.

Influenza is not the same as a common cold, and can be a serious disease. For some people, such as the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions, the flu can cause serious complications which require hospitalisation and can sometimes lead to death.

That is why understanding the facts about flu and what you can do to protect yourself and your family is so important. The two best ways to prevent influenza are to practise good hygiene and get vaccinated.
