Re-accreditation

Access the guide to accreditation with PMAQ here (PDF 513 kB) to read about the system of accreditation in Queensland.

The accreditation process typically occurs in a four-year cycle through which prevocational training providers demonstrate compliance with the National Framework for Prevocational (PGY1 and PGY2) Medical Training in their delivery of postgraduate year one (PGY1) and postgraduate year two (PGY2) medical training.

Training providers with existing accreditation for prevocational training should apply for reaccreditation in the year prior to the current status' expiry. This is typically achieved through completion and submission of:

  • An accreditation application form, which includes a prevocational doctor journey, questions, and recommended evidence.
  • A list of terms to be accredited within the program, with all details required of the national framework.
  • Relevant evidence to substantiate the self-assessed compliance with the standards.

Following submission of the application and evidence, PMAQ works with the provider to arrange interviews with key people involved in management and governance of the training program. This includes prevocational doctors, term and clinical supervisors, medical education and workforce staff, medical leaders and hospital or health service executive. Typically, an interview scheduled is created by the provider (with guidance from PMAQ). Templates for typical interview and site visit arrangements can be sourced from PMAQ.
