Voluntary Assisted Dying in Queensland Quarterly Report: April to June 2026

This quarterly report summarises activity from 1 April to 30 June 2026. It includes an overview of the voluntary assisted dying process as well as key contacts and links to additional resources for more information about voluntary assisted dying.

The report shows that from 1 April to 30 June 2026:

• 526 people had a first assessment to assess their eligibility to access voluntary assisted dying
• 278 people died from administration of a voluntary assisted dying substance

The report provides details about who accessed voluntary assisted dying from 1 April to 30 June 2026:

• people were aged between 18 and 102 years and the median age was 77
• 52% of people lived in regional or remote parts of the state
• 78% of people were accessing or have accessed palliative care
• 77% of people had a cancer diagnosis.

The Review Board is the independent oversight body for voluntary assisted dying in Queensland under the Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2021.
