Rural and Remote Research Capacity Building Program (RRR-Cap)

The Rural and Remote Research Capacity Building Program (RRR-Cap), led by the Office of the Chief Allied Health Officer (OCAHO), aims to develop the research capacity of eligible rural and remote health practitioners covered by the Health Practitioners and Dental Officers (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No.4) 2022 (HPDO4) by providing funding to support research placements and research dissemination.   • Eligible rural and remote health practitioners covered by the HPDO4 are invited to participate in the Rural and Remote Research Capacity Building Program initiative: Graduate Diploma of Research Funding Support commencing in July 2024.

    The 24-month (part-time) program includes funding for a graduate diploma course in research with support provided through a facilitated group-based mentoring program that features presentations and discussion with health practitioner research experts.  Participants will develop a research proposal that is relevant to their local service and community as a component of their studies and participation in the program.

  • Fellowships for eligible rural and remote health practitioners covered by the HPDO4 are available to conduct a new or existing Translating Research into Practice (TRIP) project. Successful applicants will be provided funding support for clinical backfill, monthly one-hour telementoring session from a dedicated rural and remote panel, and additional training and education resources supported by the existing AH-TRIP Program.

    EOI submissions for this initiative have closed and will reopen mid-2024.

  • Funding support for eligible rural and remote health practitioners covered by the HPDO4 is available to facilitate supported research placements with an experienced health practitioner researcher or research team facility to develop research skills and networks required to undertake a research project. Funding support will provide travel and accommodation reimbursement to successful applicants. Alternatively, facilitators may support a reverse placement for up to five days where the facilitator will receive reimbursement for travel and accommodation to attend the applicant Health Practitioner’s local rural or remote site.

    If you would like to nominate to be a potential research placement facilitator, please register your interest using this form. Facilitators and host sites can be located in metropolitan, regional, rural or remote sites.

  • Funding support for eligible rural and remote health practitioners covered by the HPDO4 is available to enable dissemination of research findings through either conference presentations or journal publications. This support is specifically for either; travel and accommodation reimbursement (conference), or reimbursement of publication fees (including fees for open access) to successful applicants.

    The aims of the RRR-Cap Research Dissemination Funding Support are to:

    • support the sharing of research output and findings from rural and remote allied health research
    • gain research skills and experience associated with disseminating research findings.
    • provide opportunities for research networking.
    • enable communication of the value of allied health research.
