Counsellors

Our forensic services counsellors work in our Coronial Family Services team to support next of kin. They also need to meet certain requirements to work for us.

As a counsellor at Forensic and Scientific Services (FSS) you'll provide support to next of kin of people whose deaths are being, or have been, investigated by a Queensland Coroner.

Qualification and registration requirements

To practice as a coronial counsellor in FSS you must have a tertiary degree in Social Work or Psychology and either:

  • membership (or eligibility for membership) with the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Opportunities

We advertise our family counselling vacancies on Smart Jobs and Seek.

What duties you'll undertake

  • coordinate and manage the outcomes of coronial processes and objections to a diverse range of stakeholders
  • identify, report and provide clinical advice and support in relation to the coronial process
