Interpreting and translating
The Queensland Government recognises that a significant number of people require interpreting and translating when accessing services in Queensland Government funded non-government organisations.
Difference between an interpreter and a translator:
- An interpreter deals with the spoken word.
- A translator deals with written text.

Right to an interpreter
Queensland Health patients, clients and consumers have a right to a qualified interpreter if they need one when using a Queensland Health and Hospital and Health Services. Qualified interpreters are provided at no charge.
