When is the scholarship period?
The scholarship period will be specified by the recognised education providers listed in the eligibility criteria.
Refer to point 4 of the Diploma Terms and Conditions document for more details.
Check your eligibility
All applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Working in one of the following streams:
- – Lived Experience workforce levels (AO2–5)
- – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healthcare Workers (HWF2–5)
- – Clinical Assistants (CA1–8)
- Are permanent or temporary Queensland Health staff currently working closely with people accessing mental health, alcohol and other drugs services.
- Maintain the above employment status with Queensland Health during the scholarship period.
- Are Australian citizens.
- Have permanent residency in Australia.
- Hold one of the following visa classifications: 155, 157, 175, 189, 190, 191, 192, 202, 407, 444, 457, 485.
Tips and requirements
To enhance your chances of being awarded a scholarship, you are required to:
- Provide thoughtful, well-considered responses to the assessment criteria — vague or generalised responses are not favourable.
- Ensure your responses are original — do not copy text from other sources. Genuine personal reflections stand out.
- Refer to the Preview assessment questions to prepare your detailed responses before opening the application form.
- Prepare notes and have all required files ready before accessing the online application form. The application must be completed in one session — incomplete applications cannot be saved and will not be considered.
- If you applied previously and were unsuccessful, please do not re-submit your previous application.
- Ensure you have read the Diploma Terms and Conditions.
- Your line manager must complete a letter of support to accompany your application.
Selecting a training provider
As part of the application process, you will be required to select a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) from the approved list of providers. Please review each provider carefully to determine which one best aligns with your learning needs, course expectations and study requirements.

Merit listing
If you are not successful in the first round but are suitable for the reserve list, you will be notified. Should an approved recipient decline or fail to meet ongoing criteria, offers may be made to reserve-listed applicants in order of merit.
