Investigation into Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service
On 30 August 2023 Queensland Health commissioned an independent Health Service Investigation following concerns raised about Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service’s (TCHHS) delivery of public sector health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the TCHHS health service area.
The Investigation was undertaken by First Nations professionals with vast experience in health, in accordance with the terms of reference.
The Investigation was carried out in two parts. Investigators delivered the final report for Part A to the Director-General in July 2024, and Part B in August 2025.
Part A considered TCHHS’s delivery of health services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the TCHHS health service area.
Part B considered the cultural safety of health services TCHHS provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees and those receiving care.
