Renew a licence or certificate

Renewal applications need to be made before your licence or certificate expires. The application can be made 60 days before your licence expires.

Failure to renew your licence or certificate may result in a contravention of the Radiation Safety Act 1999 if you intend to continue your business.

Apply for a licence or certificate renewal

Typically, you will be sent a renewal application form before your licence or certificate expires. However, it is your responsibility to ensure you renew your licence or certificate before it expires.

If you have not received a renewal application form before your licence or certificate expires you can renew your licence or certificate using the Public Health Connect (PH Connect) online licensing portal, which covers:

  • Possession Licence
  • Use Licence
  • Accreditation Certificate
  • Radiation Safety Officer Certificate

Licence and certificate duration

You can apply to renew your licence or certificate for a term of 1, 2 or 3 years.

Fees

You will need to pay a licence or certificate fee.

If you are a Possession Licensee, the licence fee payable includes a source fee based on the number and types of radiation sources you have in your possession.

Third party authorisation

A licensee can authorise a third party to represent them in relation to their licence under the Radiation Safety Act 1999 or associated matters by applying for a third party authorisation.

Note: If a person submits a renewal application before the expiry date, they remain a licensee/certificate holder until a decision is made by the Chief Executive.
