About us
The Centre for Palliative Care Research and Education (CPCRE) is a Queensland Health funded initiative. Hosted by Metro North Health and operating from the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (Office of Research), CPCRE takes a state-wide view of the palliative care sector.
CPCRE provides opportunities for healthcare professionals and health services to develop the capacity in support of good quality palliative and end-of-life care.
CPCRE’s focus is to enhance palliative care education and research throughout Queensland by providing evidence-based and accessible information which supports the delivery of palliative and end-of-life care for our communities.
What we do
CPCRE works collaboratively with government and non-government organisations involved in providing palliative and end of life care in Queensland.
We strengthen the capacity of the health system to respond to the palliative care needs of Queenslanders, to improve quality of life for people living with life-limiting illness, families, carers, and communities. We do this by:
- Organising and delivering events, workshops, and conferences in research and education,
- Producing and linking to important sector resources,
- Arranging placements and attachments for clinicians and health workers into specialist palliative care services,
- Supporting networking of workers via events, placements, communications, and yarning circles (Budja Wandi),
- Support First Nations care by delivering projects and providing and disseminating knowledge to health workers and Indigenous Liaison Officers.
- Dissemination of knowledge, upcoming events, and outcomes through CPCRE’s suite of communications and online calendar.
