Allied Health Assistant Contextualised Learning Modules

The Office of the Chief Allied Health Officer have developed a series of contextualised learning modules designed to assist the rapid on-boarding of new allied health assistants in a number of clinical practice areas. These resources may be used by allied health assistants seeking recognition of prior learning toward the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance from a Registered Training Organisation. They are also a useful tool to support continuing professional development for existing allied health assistants.

Physiotherapy

Assist with physiotherapy treatments and interventions

Deliver and monitor a client specific exercise program

Deliver and monitor an exercise program for mobility

Podiatry

Assist with Basic Foot Hygiene

Assist with podiatric assessment and exercise

Assist with podiatric procedures

Occupational Therapy

Assist with the rehabilitation of clients

Conduct group sessions for individual client outcomes

Assist with development and maintenance of client functional status

Support the fitting of assistive devices

Speech Pathology

Support the development of speech and communication skills

Provide support for dysphagia management

Assist and support the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems
