To access a communication aid to trial, prescribers can use MASS stock equipment or trial a device through a commercial supplier. For advice, please contact the MASS Principal Communication Aids Advisor.
MASS stock equipment
The following Communication Aids are second hand items that have been returned to MASS and are available for re-issue. Please follow this procedure, if you wish to consider applying for a stock item for your client:
Contact the Principal Clinical Advisor (3136 3575) to discuss:
- Current availability of device;
- You client's communication needs; and
- The trial and application process
-If the device is available and a loan agreement form has been completed, the MASS stock item will be sent to the prescriber for trial with the client.
-Based on this discussion, it is expected that the trial will be successful and the client will keep the device.
-If the trial is successful you will need to complete online application through MASS-eApply.
-If the trial is unsuccessful, the device needs to be returned to MASS immediately. Please use Australia Post or a reputable courier.
-Stock devices do not attract a co-payment (if applicable).
-These devices are available for re-issue and are NOT to be requested for trials where an application for a new device is being considered/completed
