Superseded - Interstate Areas of Concern (Vulnerable Facilities) Direction

Summary

This direction has been superseded on 28 May 2021. See the current Interstate Areas of Concern (Vulnerable Facilities) Direction (No. 2).

Effective from: 1am AEST 27 May 2021

Posted: 27 May 2021

Superseded on: 28 May 2021

I, Dr Jeannette Young, Chief Health Officer, reasonably believe it is necessary to publish the following list of interstate areas of concern pursuant to the powers under s362B of the Public Health Act 2005 to assist in containing, or to respond to, the spread of COVID-19 within the community.

The direction applies from 1am on Thursday 27 May 2021 until the end of the declared public health emergency, unless it is revoked or replaced. The purpose of this direction is to identify interstate areas of concern for:

This means people who have been in an interstate area of concern since the time and date identified in the table below or in the past 14 days, whichever period is shorter, will not be permitted to enter residential aged care facilities, shared disability accommodation services and hospitals. This is because interstate areas of concern have a heightened COVID-19 risk due to factors such as an increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the issuing of local public health alerts by an interstate authority.

From 1am on Thursday 27 May 2021 the following Greater Melbourne local government areas (excluding Whittlesea City) are declared interstate areas of concern.

A full list of declared COVID-19 interstate areas of concern is provided below:
